8 birders from the Iowa City Bird Club enjoyed a walk along the Riverwalk Trail by the Coralville Dam. The walk was notable because we did NOT get rained on. Also, we had 39 species. Interesting observations were were: . Chris Edwards spotted a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. It was unbelievably cooperative, allowing everyone prolonged looks. It's getting a little late in the season for this species.
We also had several flocks of Franklin's Gulls going over head on their way South. We estimated that we saw 325 individuals.
We saw a Red-headed Woodpecker caching an acorn. We weren't sure we had seen that behavior before, but I easily found that this is a known behavior for this species.
We had a nice warbler morning, seeing 6 species: Nashville Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, Bay-breasted Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler and Wilson's Warbler.
