As part of the GGRO Hawkwatch team today, I enjoyed a strong flight day in the headlands. A good variety of raptors kept us busy, highlighted by 158 Broad-winged Hawks. We also had a good variety of passerines, highlighted by 3 calling Cassin’s Finches. Oddest sighting of the day for me was a tight flock of 7 Steller’s Jays flying just below the peak and slipping around to the south towards SF. I didn’t know that they moved regionally in groups like that.
