Observers: Visitors: Nice to catch with up some of the DCR Ranger Staff today from the local HQ.
Weather: Cold to start, settling to brisk and eventually temperature with ample sunshine. Cloudless with strong NNE winds yet again. Raptor Observations: Another hawkwatch free of major Broad-winged Hawk movement - just a few stray singles, doubles and one set of three were moving in the morning flight. The NNE winds have seemingly emptied the region of Broad-wings. Tomorrow will surely move any stragglers out before the multi-day Nor'easter arrives late Friday night.
A small push of Sharp-shinned Hawks and American Kestrels made their way south in the whipping wind.
A distant kettle of 8 non-migrant Bald Eagles was one of a few mild highlights today. A Merlin snagged a migrant butterfly over the true summit, and seemed to immediately release it. Non-migrant Raptors Turkey Vulture 8 Bald Eagle 10 Red-tailed Hawk 1
