This coming Saturday, September 26, NH Audbon's Mascoma Chapter will be hosting a birding outing at New Hampshire's Bedell Bridge Historic Site in Haverhill.
We'll meet at the site's boat launch ramp at 7:30am. The site has varied habitats including wetlands, agricultural fields and rare, for the Upper Valley, Connecticut River riverine habitat. Previous walks have provided diverse warbler species and rusty blackbirds to name a few.
All experience levels are welcome. Bring binoculars or spotting scopes as you prefer. The terrain is level, but rain will cause conditions that make the trails wet orVery smuddy. Appropriate footwear is advised.
*Directions*: From Vermont, cross over into New Hampshire on VT Route 25 in Bradford. Very shortly after you enter New Hampshire, look for River Road on your left. Turn onto it and drive north to its junction with NH Route 10. Turn left onto NH Route 10 and drive north, passing the Haverhill Green. A quarter mile past the green, look for Meadow Lane on your left. Turn on to it and follow it down to the boat launch parking area.
From NH: Take NH Route 10, either north or south to Haverhill. Look for Meadow Lane north of the Haverhill Green and take it down to the river.
Saturday's forecast is unsettled with significant rain a distinct possibility. In the case of steady rain, the walk will be cancelled. Please check your email early Saturday morning for status updates.
