I took a break from hot buggy conditions and fruitless searches at La Cumbre Peak to check out some of the Goleta Hot spots. At Winchester One, it was easy to spot warblers in the heavily pruned eucs, but hard to identify them against the gray sky. I ended up seeing 7 species or Warbler, the rarest of them a Hermit Warbler.
The Hollister Tech Park was fairly slow until the marine layer started to break up. Then all of a sudden the trees in the southwestern corner came alive and I couldn't keep up with the activity. All I could pull out were common warblers, but it would have been easy to miss something uncommon. Needed more than one pair of eyes!
Nothing of note happening at the Mento complex Parking lot. The place to watch at mid-morning was the water feature in front of the northmost building. Again , I didn't for sure get anything unexpected; the exception was a possible Tennessee Warbler that came in and was immediately chased off by an Orange-crowned.
