On both Monday and Tuesday night this week... around 9:30pm... I've had two barred owls hooting near my house. It usually lasts a while (they are still going when I head for bed) and are often overlapping in their calls. Monday was fairly close to the house, Tuesday was further away.
I did not hear them last night. Here's hoping I hear them tonight!
