Just when I thought the possibility of something interesting passing through our little bird yard today was over, at close to 4:15 pm I had a pleasant surprise.
In less than 5 minutes 3 Yellow Warblers, 2 Orange-crowns and a flashy male Townsend's arrived, each vying for space at the bird bath. A single Chestnut-backed Chickadee and a small flock of Bushtits arrived as well. While no species is considered rare or unusual, the number of warblers moving together is not typical here.
