Nebraska birders,
On Tuesday, September 22, I went to Hall County Park again. The park has great habitat and there have been new and different birds seen every day recently. I met Steve Morris in the park and we birded for a couple of hours. As usual, the birding was very slow until we came upon a small group of warblers. We saw a Nashville, a few Orange-crowned and about five Blackpoll Warblers. We were able to follow them for a while but then we lost them.
After lunch, I went back to Hall County Park because it was on my way home and I thought that maybe Colleen Childers might be there. I waited for a few minutes and there was Colleen. We birded together for about a half hour. We saw a Warbling Vireo whose underparts were very yellow but I couldn't see a dark lore, so I couldn't call it a Philadelphia Vireo. We also found a small group of warblers and were able to identify an Orange-crowned and a Bay-breasted Warbler which was a female/immature. Colleen was able to get photos.
The Bay-breasted Warbler is the 200th species that I have identified in Hall County.
