After a chilly, cloudy morning the afternoon sun made it pleasant at the Helderberg Hawk Watch at the Overlook at John Boyd Thacher State Park yesterday, September 21. Led by Drew Hopkins of Five Rivers EEC (who kept the official count), about a half dozen birders saw Broad-winged, Red-tailed, Cooper's, and Sharp-shinned , along with American Kestrel, Peregrine (perched for a while in a distant tree), 3 Bald eagles and two Ospreys.
