Visitors: Two men from Agawam, Dave and Mark, who arrived just after I did. While I was looking to the north, they spotted a kettle of 50 Broad-wings straight up above the Hill -- first catch of the day!
Weather: A highly changeable sky: cirrus mixed with cumulus, gradually becoming mostly cumulus; cloud-cover varied all day, ranging from 30% to 70%. Many fantastical cloud shapes: fish, dogs, sea otters, etc. Wind NNE/NE 3-12 mph. Temperature 58-64 F. The day felt more like the first day of fall than the last day of summer.
Raptor Observations: Not a bad day for a second-tier site "mopping up" after Saturday's big push elsewhere. Several kettles (from 30 to 108 birds) formed, then quickly dispersed southwestward. Only 17 other raptors passed through. Not counted as migrants: 3 Turkey Vultures, adult and immature Bald Eagles, Cooper's Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk. Non-raptor Observations: Canada Geese (20), Northern Flickers (2), Blue Jays (2), American Crow, Common Ravens (2), American Goldfinches (2).
