Heard only, two observers were unable to locate the bird in the limited time they had to search.
These were experienced observers who made the report. There was also a Swainson’s Thrush calling there.
Hopefully someone can nail down the bird.

Location listed as 720 Auditorium Drive which we think is behind the skating rink.

When getting out of the car, we heard the very distinctive “pit-ah-tuck” call of a Summer Tanager. The bird was calling infrequently, and I tried to record it, but the calls were too infrequent. We tried call playback, and the bird responded briefly, but did not come into view. This vocalization is highly distinctive, but we were unable to get a photo or even a visual. The bird was in the riparian along a channel just south of the Redding Rodeo facilities near the Auditorium Lift Station enclosure. We realize that this documentation is likely inadequate to support the record, but we need to get back on the road and wanted to get the word out in case other observers want to look for this bird. We have decades of extensive experience with this species.
