A week ago we had a first for us, male and female Rubythroateds and a juvenile all at the hummingbird feeder at the same time. It seemed like a family unit, with the male and female flitting around and encouraging the juvenile to land on the feeder and eat. The juvenile was about two-thirds the size of the adults and I could not see any throat markings.
Then Sunday even a female Rubythroated returned with a single juvenile, which went right to the feeder and got to work tanking up for the trip south. It was interesting to watch.
