I was just treated to the sight of four northern flickers gathered together on the top of a dead tree festooned with fall red Virginia creeper.
They were doing one of what I call their “funny” calls, as a lone cedar wax wing sat below them & a blue jay zoomed into & out of the tree.
I assumed it was two pairs, but the light is so bad, I couldn’t really see the field marks clearly.
This was at the edge of Kendal’s western edge just north of Abrams Brookside walk.
