Hi Marge et al,I was on the gulf coast last week and there were very few migrants there as well.  Maybe they are all still up north and will burst onto the scene in the upcoming week when the weather cools.Until then,Maureen Thomas-MurphySt Louis

Good afternoon,I didn't get out to Hi Lonesome until about 11:45, so there may have been more of a dawn chorus, but there was absolutely nothing vocalizing while I was there--except crickets.
It was, however, a very pleasant late morning.  The temperature was a mere 81 degrees!  Observations were of a single Red-tail, 3 American Crows, one American Goldfinch, 1 Mourning Dove and 7 Turkey Vultures.
The landscape was good if you like tall grasses.  There were a few glorious displays of Maximilian Sunflowers and occasional Goldenrods.  I think our lengthy spell of extreme heat as well as our drought has urged the migrating birds to head south.  I'm interested to know if other areas are experiencing the same thing.
