Congrats Derek, on a great outing! Especially your success with those elusive "Conns."
By (sad) comparison, last week Linda and I took our little motorhome up north to the Allegheny National Forest, in search of warblers, especially any lingering Conns.
A fools errand.
A four-day sojourn yielded a lone Common Yellowthroat voice on the Merlin. A few Tohee and Catbird were the only other "migrants." We worked hard at it too, so amazing that only a few hundred miles south you had such a basketfull of migrants.
Best wishes for your continued success. I think next year, we'll head south instead of north!!!

This morning 17 people joined me for the annual mid September outing to
Little Indian Creek WMA in search of fall migrants. Once again, we had
success in finding a Connecticut Warbler which is impressive given the
number of consecutive years we have run this trip and lucked into at least
one of these elusive warblers. We also encountered 13 other warbler species
on our walk. Cooperative Yellow-billed Cuckoo and Broad-winged Hawk were
nice additions as well. Somewhat surprising given the huge movement
overnight was the lack of Catharus thrushes, but I guess you can't win them
