Visitors: I enjoyed delightful conversations during the prolonged lulls with Julie and Matt Emerson, Michelle and Eric Tattersall, Marcella Turner and Ann Adamson, all of whom helped greatly with spotting the birds. My apologies if I misspelled anyone's names.
Weather: Cloud-cover 80%, increasing to 95% during the last hour. Wind light, initially NE, then variable, 3-5 mph. Temperature 63-67 F.
Raptor Observations: With light and variable winds, the day bid fair to be unpromising, and unpromising it was almost to the end. A late kettle of 48 Broad-wings just before 4 pm EDT brought a measure of redemption. Not counted as migrants: 9 Turkey Vultures (they kettled briefly to tantalize us), adult Bald Eagle, adult Red-shouldered Hawk.
Non-raptor Observations: Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Northern Flicker, Eastern Phoebe, Blue Jay, American Crow, Common Raven, 2 Black-capped Chickadees, 2 Tufted Titmice, American Goldfinch, probable female Common Yellowthroat (the warbler famine continues). Monarchs: 3. Two more spotted lanternflies, for a season total of 4 so far.
