This morning about two dozen birders were looking for the visiting rarities and other birds at Bauer Farm in Madison.
The Lark sparrow is still around, although it is being more skittish and spending time in the plots of the community garden versus the mowed areas, making it more difficult to find today.
No one saw nor heard the Blue Grosbeak that was there for a while yesterday.
Other than that, the farm was very quiet this morning compared to the last couple of days – I noted that a number of the birds that have been resident over the last week moved on. Numbers of finch and sparrow species dropped from the aggregate hundreds down to probably less than 100, if that.
Seems like the big movement detected at BirdCast last night included a lot of birds leaving our area. Looking forward to the next wave of migrants!
