I started out at Winchester One, which had a good selection of western migrants and reasonable numbers. Best birds were Tennessee and Nashville Warblers and a Willow Flycatcher. I had a second 'whitting' empid high up in the trees in the N of the grove that seemed out of place for a Willow. However, I could never get a visual.
Lots of birds at Evergreen but I failed to find anything remotely unusual. I had no birds (or lerps) at Newport Drive and the east section of the Coronado grove seemed to have no lerps. I did see a selection of common migrants eventually but doubt this area will be all that good.
Although the central section of the Hollister Tech Park was pretty dead, I had some good success with pulling in some flocks using a mobbing tape in the western part. These included the continuing female B&W, a Tennessee and a Lucy's. The best bird was a YG Vireo. The number of migrants in the Tech Park did not seem as high as in the magical years a few years back, so it may have just been lucky that I got all these good birds in the same visit.
