Visitors: 39 visitors today, including a very polite yorkshire terrier named Nico and a big middle school group who was great company. The only raptors they got to see were vultures and one lone sharpie right as they left, but they were ecstatic! They really earned the junior hawkwatcher stickers I gave out today. Also joined most of the day by Frank and Kathy Romano, who brought me snacks and listened to me play my ocarina. Can�t ask for more than that!
Weather: 71-77 F, humid and hazy. Light rain for an hour midday. Light wind that was variable but mostly south.
Raptor Observations: Some birds before and after the rain, but not much today. Ended the count early after getting no birds for a couple hours.
Non-raptor Observations: In the absence of actual hawks, I did finally get a nighthawk up here! Lots of fun watching it hunt in the early morning haze. Another ant nuptial flight also, which the kids didn�t enjoy much - but neither that nor the rain stopped them from having a great time.
