Birders,
Cross-posting on the listserve that there is currently a juvenile Hudsonian Godwit hanging out on the west shore of Abbotts Lagoon. This bird was initially found on 9/12 by Derek Heins and Teale Fristoe, and subsequently refound in the morning of 9/14 by Eli Gross; having since been seen by many.
Yesterday, in addition to the continuing hudwit, Lucas Stephenson picked out an adult White-rumped Sandpiper in the growing peep flock on the north shore of the main lagoon. The bird was actively foraging and chasing juvenile Western Sandpipers, showing well for the many observers present. Eventually, the entire flock left the north shore of the main lagoon at dark, presumably to roost at a more protected spot on the main lagoon.
Good luck to anyone going for these birds, and congratulations to the original finders.
