2 Blue Grosbeaks were reported, and confirmed, from Governors Island just south of Manhattan - and each a part of N.Y. County - on Wednesday, Sept. 16th.

Manhattan, N.Y. City - to Wednesday, September 16th -
A Virginia Rail was confirmed from a sighting in the vicinity of Columbus Park in lower east Manhattan, late-day on Tues., 9-15. A Dark-eyed Junco at Central Park was likely the first sighting of the season there, or for the county, also on 9-15, and showing at Central Park by Wed., 9-16 was Field Sparrow. Additional Ruby-crowned Kinglets have been appearing around Manhattan, and were in the low-multiple at Central Park.
A minimum of 21 warbler species were found at Central Park on Wednesday, by many many observers and photographers thru all of that park and observing at all hours of the day. Thrushes still included Veery, and Gray-cheeked Thrush - and such types, as well as multiple Wood and particularly Swainsons Thrushes, with a very few well-documented Hermit Thrush, all these in other places in Manhattan and the county, besides those in Central Park to Wednesday, 9-16.
For Central Park alone, more than 140 species of wild, free-flying birds have shown so far this month, all as found by both independent observers and those leading or in support of not-for-profit guided bird walks in that park, and with many walks also being offered in migration and other seasons all around the NYC area, by multiple non-profit organizations and institutions. For all of New York County, more than 160 species of birds were so far recorded and confirmed in September. Many more species are likely to be found, as this month continues along.
