Observation start time: 09:15:00 Observation end time: 15:15:00 Total observation time: 6 hours
Official Counter: Rob Woodward
Observers:
Visitors: 13. Hurray to the one who asked: "Are you watching birds again?"
Weather: Mostly clear to start with increasing high clouds in the afternoon; pretty steady light WSW wind; warm, 58 - 75 F.
Raptor Observations: A fine day for hawk watching high atop Pine Mountain here in Alton Bay. Finally the siege was broken today and the first kettles of the season appeared, one 40 strong, most of the others in the 12 to 20 range. A good count for Broad-winged Hawk but where were the falcons and the Sharp-shins?? I had to leave a little early to tend to my night job.
Non-raptor Observations: Some fine kettles of Turkey Vultures, a late Chimney Swift, 13 Monarchs and a Green Snake - spectacular. Not many reptiles up here. Well, I'll leave that one alone.
Predictions: If the rain holds off until 2 or 3 I can get a count in. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Rob Woodward (<toucanrob...>)
