First, I’d like to apologize for not getting the alert out sooner but I wanted to get some expert opinions to verify ID before posting to the listserve. On Sunday afternoon, 13 September, around 5pm I followed up on an intriguing Empid flycatcher photographed by Trina Arnold at the canal inlet of Lake Hefner in n. OKC that morning. It turned out to be a fresh fall HAMMOND’S FLYCATCHER, which to my knowledge and available resources, establishes the FIRST documented record for Oklahoma Co. and first photographed in the state away from Cimarron and Texas Co. in the far western panhandle. It was not relocated the next morning despite some searching by others. Just a reminder to be on the lookout and aware of these western vagrant flycatchers passing through in very low density during the early fall season.
