Early this morning, Wednesday, 16 September, there was a vocal YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER at Martin Park Nature Center in n. OKC. There was possibly a second YBFL interacting with the first one but only one was seen and heard well. Multiple Empidonax flycatchers, including a Least or two, were active between the parking area and the playground as you walk in. It was difficult to keep track of all the activity at times. Yellow-bellied Flycatchers are quite rare in spring and fall migration in the region, so I wanted to get the word out. Also there, I had upwards of 3-4 Nashville, 8+ Yellow, and 2 separate Black-throated Green Warblers all between the parking lot and visitor center. Despite the warm weather conditions and continued south winds, it seemed like a good migrant morning in the OKC area.
