I observed a basic-plumaged Black Tern at 9:45 this morning near the mouth of the San Luis ReyRiver in Oceanside. The bird was originally noted foraging over the marshy area between N. Pacific Street and the train trestle. I saw it a short period later from a berm on the southeast side of the free parking lot. This is upstream and northeast of my first sighting.
Three Common Terns foraged over the Oceanside Harbor near the bait barge, quite possibly the trio noted by "Anonymous birder" at Camp Pendleton on the 14th.
