The annual Montezuma Muckrace, held on September 11-12 this year, is a 24-hour bird-a-thon in which teams or individuals compete to find as many birds as possible within the Montezuma Wetlands Complex. Sponsored by the Friends of Montezuma, a 501(c)(3) organization, it raises money for habitat restoration, education, and other projects within the Complex. The Cayuga Bird Club sponsored two teams for last weekend's Muckrace:
*Arrogant Bustards -- *Bob McGuire, Ken Kemphues, Rachel Lodder, Sandy Podulka, Stephanie Herrick, Susan Danskin and Diane Morton. (100 species, Recreational category)
*Shutterbirds* -- Suan Yong, Mark Miller and Beth Bannister (80 species, Photo category)
