The Crested Caracara that has apparently been seen for several days was present today in the marsh at Duck Harbor in Wellfleet. While we watched it, it never flew but spent most of its time walking in the marsh, presumably foraging. It sometimes perched up on a log to rest and preen. When it was walking it was often impossible to see in the vegetation. This afternoon, at least, it was in the vicinity of the solar-powered weather station, so searching in that vicinity from different angles (from Griffin Island Road or from the fire road that goes along the marsh from where Griffin Island Road makes a sharp turn) might reveal the bird.
