Weather: Hazy blue skies (again), with minimal cloud-cover (20% decreasing to 1%) -- poor conditions for spotting raptors. Wind NW 3-10 mph. Temperature 60s F.
Raptor Observations: A disappointing count, in view of the favorable wind direction. Largest group of Broad-wings consisted of five birds. Not counted as migrants: Turkey Vulture, adult Bald Eagle, Cooper's Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk, 2 Red-tailed Hawks. Additonal observers: Martha Lacrosse and John Violette.
Non-raptor Observations: Passerines continued to be incredibly scarce, with no warblers present at all. Is this somehow related to the summer wildfires in Canada? Observed: 7 Canada Geese, Wood Duck, Mourning Dove, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Chimney Swift, Northern Flicker, Blue Jay, 2 American Crows, American Goldfinch. Monarchs: 15. Another spotted lanternfly. Predictions: Variable light airs, with even fewer birds.
