Subject: Re: [pen-bird] Heermann's gull at Coyote Point
Hi Ross, I would say Heermann's Gull are very casual to rare on the San Mateo County Bayside. If San Mateo had more geographically refined filters, I would probably set "the bayside filter" to flag Heermann's Gull for more details.  But we only have one countywide filter to work with and we need to set it to accommodate coastal numbers.  Santa Clara can set their countywide  filter to flag for more details as they do not have a coastline. Your photo is only the 4th photo ever taken of Heermann's Gull on the bayside in San Mateo County on eBird for all time. Thank you for uploading  your photo of the Heermann's Gull  to your eBird checklist!Malia

I don't know how rare they are here, but I had a Heermann's gull at Coyote Point this afternoon.  Photo and location at https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/400096050
