Visitors: In addition to the annual visit of the Northeastern outing club, not all of whom came today, Paul Effah, Pacifique Ishimwe, Esther Bang, and Jaden Uram talked with me about the hawks and my site.
Weather: Light (2) ESE-SE winds throughout the watch with gusts of 8 km/hr until the last hour when they increased to 12km/hr. For the first three hours there was 0% cloud cover. Then gradually cirrus clouds began to form to the south, increasingly covering more of the sky until by the last hour at least 75% of the sky had cirrus clouds. Temperature went from 17-23*C
Raptor Observations: Except for one OS that flew high south over the Rock, the few other migrating raptors were very distant and could only be seen by Carole and/or Jack since the were standing on the highest part of the Rock. Non-migrating -- One OS seen flying toward the northeast and at least several RT Hawks seen at various times in the afternoon
Non-raptor Observations:
Predictions: Tomorrow, Sunday, fairly heaven rain is expected throughout the day. However, Monday NW winds are predicted to increase and be strong around midday, and stay moderately strong for the rest of the day. Since these are the best winds at this site, I am hopeful that there might be a larger movement of raptors than we have previously had. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Craig Jackson (<crleja1949...>)
