Lesser Nighthawk (Chordeiles acutipennis) (1)

Flew close overhead, unmistakable silhouette and erratic flight pattern. Another birder coming from Dune Swale Pond said he had seen three birds earlier at the pond but they had dispersed in different directions. We likely saw one of the dispersing birds. Sighting was about 2/3 of the distance from the Dune Trail trailhead to the pond and close to the lagoon."

At 7:10 PM, two were flying together above the pond, inhaling insects. At 7:20 PM, a third one joined them. Around 7:30 PM, one flew north and was seen by two other eBirders later, while the other two flew south."
