Observation start time: 08:00:00 Observation end time: 12:00:00 Total observation time: 3.5 hours
Official Counter: Brian Rusnica
Observers: Andrew Bolton
Visitors: Andrew Bolton
Weather: Warm, classic late-summer day. Moderate NW breeze, scattered clouds only with distant frontal boundary to the south.
Raptor Observations: What originally was scheduled as just a "cargo hike" turned into a short hawkwatch with the perfect wind conditions. Unfortunately we had to end early to prep for the EMHW Meeting tonight and certainly missed out on hundreds of Broad-wings coming through this afternoon. Andrew Bolton added 4 Broad-wings after I left at noon EDT. Thank you Andrew!
Non-migrant Raptors Turkey Vulture 14 Bald Eagle 3
Non-raptor Observations: Common Raven 18 AMERICAN PIPIT 1 - flushed off summit at 9am
Predictions: Light winds turning from E to S will hopefully not impede any migrants in the area. Join us at the summit as Three Rivers Bird Club leads a field trip to the Hawkwatch, leaving at 7:30am from the Bennet Road entrance. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Brian Rusnica (<brian_rusnica...>) Mount Watatic information may be found at: http://www.massbird.org/emhw
