Hi all,
I would like to add to the list of today’s central coast rarities by
mentioning a Tennessee Warbler and an unidentified Baypoll Warbler, both
along Tunitas Creek. The Tennessee was on the old trail to the beach here
(37.3577391, -122.3967488) and the Baypoll was further up the road near the
intersection with Tunitas Creek Ranch Rd here
(37.3762822, -122.3753263)
.
Also on wednesday I had 25 southbound White-faced Ibis from Pomponio Creek
Beach, a female type American Redstart on lower Gazos Creek about 150 yards
before the intersection with Cloverdale
(37.1861544, -122.3431609)
, a beautiful male American Redstart on Old Woman Creek (37.1818715,
-122.3381878), also on Old Woman Creek I ran into another birder who’s
merlin had picked up Barred Owl and Northern Waterthrush a little after the
bridge over Gazos Creek, for however much that’s worth. I was unable to
find either although I did hear two hoots of which had the right pitch and
tone for Barred Owl, although sounded like no call of theirs that i’m
familiar with. Later on Canyon Road, I found a female type Blackburnian
Warbler here
(37.2163664, -122.3452678).
Fall is definitely coming in hot right now!! Looking forward to seeing what
people find in the coming weeks.
