Observation start time: 08:00:00 Observation end time: 15:00:00 Total observation time: 7 hours
Official Counter: John Mercer
Observers: Alan Simon, Craig Hedlund, Robin Queenan
Visitors: Drew Swenda
Weather: Cloudy and cool until about one then it got warm as the sun came out. Winds N to NE shifting to SW once the sun arrived. As the storms exited the area, the clouds followed, moving from North to South leaving pure blue skies in their wake.
Raptor Observations: Thanks to the helpful eyes of Craig, Allan, Robin and Drew, without their help, I would not have been able to get as many birds as I did. It is really helpful to have extra eyes even if they are not sure what they are looking at. Please support your local hawk watch. Locals: CH, BE,TV, RT, ML and BV.
Non-raptor Observations: One Double-crested Cormorant, one Ruby-throated Hummingbird, one Common Nighthawk and one Common Raven. As we watched, a nice 9/11 memorial service went on from 11 to 12.
Predictions: Tomorrow, temperatures range from around 70 to 80 with some cloud cover with winds mainly from the SE around 6-10 mph. The ridges are doing well and Quaker's Ridge in CT had a good Broad-winged day today, so maybe we will get some now that the storms have passed. ======================================================================== Report submitted by John Mercer (<mercer1135...>) Rose Tree Park information may be found at: bcdelco.org/activities/rose-tree-park-hawkwatch/
