Observation start time: 07:45:00 Observation end time: 15:00:00 Total observation time: 7.25 hours
Official Counter: Cindy Bickel
Observers: A local hawk watcher, Cindy Bickel
Visitors: A local friend of our watch stopped by in the morning and stayed all day! Was so thankful to have another person on the watch with a great set of eyes to help me out. Cheryl and Hank Velfoff of Warrior's Mark stopped by to see what we were seeing. They observed a Goshawk at their farm recently. Encouraged them to contact Jon Kauffman since he does nestbox studies on their property.
Weather: Lighter Northwest winds throughout the day with overcasting clouds that covered more than 80% of the sky, with occasional peaks of sunshine. Humid.
Raptor Observations: A good flight today which was a pleasant surprise, with a nice mix of raptors counted. Local Redtails, TV's and BV's were also seen.
Non-raptor Observations: Nemo & friend, Crows, Cedar Waxwings, Phoebee Flycatcher, Chimney Swifts and one Bluejay. Not too many Lantern Flies today which was a blessing. Just a reminder that on Saturday, September 12th a Zeiss representative and Ben Swarey from the Scope and Binocular Shoppe in Allensville will be at the watch, even though afternoon showers are predicted. All Zeiss products will be at least 20% off. One day only, cash or checks only! Southeast winds predicted so the Broad-wings should be flying! ======================================================================== Report submitted by Darrell Smith (<oleagleye...>)
