Hello birders -
I had the excitement of seeing a Lucy's Warbler in Rancho this morning at the edge of the Clipper Ridge neighborhood at approximately 37.515105, -122.487744. Unfortunately it was visible only very briefly before it flew over the a fence into the neighborhood and I wasn't able to relocate. Thankfully the tiny gray short-tailed finely-billed warbler was kind enough to show me its reddish rump as it flew away in agitation!
I visited my two closest patches from my house before work: Princeton by the Sea Park and lower Rancho EG. A nice assortment of local and migrant birds it seemed just about everywhere actively foraging included Northern Yellow Warblers, Wilson's Warblers, Warbling Vireos, the delightful "yank yank yank" of a Red-breasted Nuthatch (appears we're in the midst of an irruption of this species at the moment as I've had them at multiple coastside locations of late), and Western Tanagers (which seem particularly abundant all up and down the coastside at the moment).
