Hi,
We're in Tofino this week - arrived here Sunday and will leave on
Saturday.
Tofino birding is as follows ... the beaches and woods (pine, cedar,
and fir) are relatively quiet/"unbirdy".
The sea birds are varied and abundant (gulls, guillemots, auklets,
grebes, and even some shearwaters).
We took a "bears and whales" tour and saw bears (black, including sow
with cubs), and whales (grey)
and also saw a couple of rafts of sea otters (20 to 30 at a time! all
staying together). Recommended
birding locations such as Chesterman Beach, the Tofino mud flats, and
the Pine Forest Bog were zip
zero (early AM, mid AM, afternoon, and late afternoon/early evening).
We are loving the wildlife and even the pelagic birding in Tofino!
