Visitors: Matching the tempo of the birds, pretty quiet for visitors too, with 15 people visiting the watch throughout the count.
Weather: Overcast all day, gray in the morning with the sun trying to poke out from about 11 to 1, then gray again turning to rain at 3:30. Winds from the southeast, light breeze in the morning that got lighter as the day progressed. One could see quite a distance, but between the haze and shimmer it was hard to make details out.
Raptor Observations: Birds seemed to be hanging out pretty low today. Birds rising generally peeled off before or just after they broke the horizon. Nice little pulse of activity around lunchtime, other than that mostly just a trickle.
Non-raptor Observations: A flyover American Pipit and group of Herring Gulls were some of the highlights today. A male towhee briefly made an appearance, and a local red-spotted purple was still flitting about.
Monarchs: 21/181 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds: 1/47
Predictions: If the west winds tomorrow can get a bit of a northerly component to them, it could be a really good day, but either way looks like a decent day for hawks to be on the move. There are certainly birds who didn't move today, just waiting for the right conditions.
