Subject: [CT Birds] Coastal Center
9/9 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 9:45am-12:30PM. high
tide-receding, overcast , 75-80F.
Several visitors this morning, 2 from Delaware who enjoyed our center and
the trails.
On the marsh: 1 Yellow crowned night heron (J) sitting under the osprey
platform, 2 ospreys (1 flyover and the other had just caught a fish and was
eating it on the nest, then relaxing on the camera), 1 Spotted sandpiper
sitting on a rock on the edge of the marsh, opening its beak for the
insects as they flew by.
On the grounds & feeders: 1 Coop/Sharpie flew over, 6 Mourning doves, 10
House finches, 9 House sparrows, 1 Carolina wren, 1 Redstart in the trees,
1 Catbird, 1 Cardinal.
