Thanks to everyone who sent in comments against the hydropower project. Today they announced the worst part of the project was canceled: the massive transmission lines that were going to go through the heart of Riverlands are now proposed to be buried. However, there are still some major problems that could have devastating impacts on Riverlands and migrating birds. They are going to be sucking in water from the mouth of Ellis Bay. There is grave concern on the impacts this could have on the hydraulics of Ellis Bay. They also want to turn a bunch of shorebird habitat to concrete channels for the intake and discharge. Endangered sturgeons also spawn right between where they want the intake and discharge. So huge victory, but still more to do.
