Date: 9/8/26 9:11 pm From: Ginger Langdon-Lassagne via groups.io <binzer...> Subject: [slocobirding] California Bird Atlas Meet-up: Tuesday, Sept. 29!
Hi Folks!
The breeding bird activity slowing down a bit here (but it’s not gone! there are still plenty of fledgelings around! and some birds build nests and lay eggs, year-round! *eyeing that mourning dove, in the vines over the shed* ...
BUT — I’ve finally managed to find the time to organize our first SLO County Bird Atlas Meet-Up! Come raise a glass and grab a bite and chat with your fellow atlasers and ask all the questions and get some answers! No purchase necessary to attend, but I hope you’ll support the business. :-)
WHO: all Bird Atlas Volunteers! If you’ve only posted a list or three to the Atlas portal, YOU COUNT!
WHAT: a low-key, social gathering, with a very brief presentation of where we stand in the data gathering, so far, and a bit of very informal Q&A, (hopefully) answered by me. also, complaining, kvetching, venting…Let me hear it! Together, we can make improvements to the process, along the way.
WHERE: Oak & Otter Brewing Co.
181 Tank Farm Rd., Ste 110
SLO, CA 93401
(behind trader joe’s, across from tractor supply)
WHEN: Tuesday, 29 SEPT 2026
4:30pm to 6:30pm
WHY HERE: Oak & Otter is a very small, very friendly, all-ages brewpub that serves not only beer & wine but their own homemade non alcoholic ginger ale & rootbeer, and I can personally vouch that their food is delicious (with gluten-free & vegetarian options).
Here’s their menu: https://www.oakandotterbrewing.com/kitchenmenu It seemed like the perfect venue to gather on their little patio and get a chance to talk about the things that worked and the things we can do better in the future.
RSVP: please email me at <binzer...>, just so I have a rough headcount for how much space we need to rope off.
Final Note: If you live in one of the other corners of the county, know that I plan to hold a few more of these: one in the Atascadero/Paso area, another up in Cambria, and finally down in 5 cities. You don't have to drive to SLO for this one, if it’s difficult for you.
I truly hope to meet many of you there!
