Weather: Blue sky again, with fleeting clouds and much more haze than yesterday. Wind NW shifting to WNW, then W at the end; 2-8 mph, dropping slightly in the afternoon. Temperature 70-75 F.
Raptor Observations: A modest flight today; the birds were hard to see in the hazy glare to the east, where many of them flew. Three Ospreys, our first of the season, were welcome sights. No coverage between 3:30 and 4:00 EDT. Not counted as migrants: Black Vulture, 2 Turkey Vultures, 2 Bald Eagles (adult and immature), Cooper's Hawk, adult Red-tailed Hawk.
Non-raptor Observations: One lone warbler today: a female Common Yellowthroat; this dearth of warblers is unprecedented. Others: Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Downy Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Eastern Phoebe, Blue Jay, American Crow, Common Raven, Black-capped Chickadees (2), Tufted Titmouse, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Eastern Bluebirds (flock of 12), American Goldfinches (flock of 4).
