Most people just post "Turkey Vulture," and that would not get an alert.
They are around all year. I think the eBird alert was activated because the
bird was marked as a Turkey Vukture (Northern) , which is the expected
eastern North American subspecies. Although that is the expected one,
eBird marked it rare because most of us do not post turkey vultures to
subspecies level. Perhaps an eBird reviewer can comment further?
