Weather: Sunny and windy with temps in the fifties and sixties. Wind was from the northwest, and there was hardly a cloud in the sky.
Raptor Observations: Another big day for this early in the season, passing yesterday's record of 327 migrants. Birds were scattered across the sky, with some flying low and some flying high. The hour with the most birds was 10 o'clock. Shortly after 4pm, three Black Vultures were spotted flying towards the southwest. They paused to circle briefly above Mount Monadnock before moving on.
The local red-tails were often seen kiting over Crotched Mountain. One of the red-tails got chased by a raven. Meanwhile, the local Merlin played with the ravens and once landed on a spruce tree near the platform.
Non-raptor Observations: It was a good day to be a raven. We enjoyed watching them have fun in the wind. Insect sightings included Twelve-spotted Skimmer, American Lady, and Red-spotted Admiral.
