There was a modest fallout of migrants at Blacklick Woods this morning, with most of the activity concentrated along the sunny eastern and southern edges of the woods. I birded along the Blacklick Circle Multi-purpose Trail loop, as well as around the Nature Center and the Maple and Buttonbush Trail loops. The forest was fairly quiet, with most of the bird activity along sunny edges. Notables included:
Hummingbirds - 4-5 were fussing over flowers along the Multipurpose loop Woodpeckers - the regulars were augmented by a Red-headed calling along the Maple Trail Flycatchers - lots of Pewees, but also had Phoebe and Great Crested Vireos - only Red-eyed, but they were widespread Thrushes - finally a Swainson's, along the back side of the Buttonbush Trail Warblers - Magnolias, Bay-breasteds, Chestnut-sided, Blackburnians, Black-thr.Blue, Ovenbird, N.Parula, Wilson's Sparrows - nothing unexpected, though numbers were low Icterids - a few Redwings and Grackles, no orioles
