Todays beautiful weather and Labor Day weekend brought a lot more visitors
to the knob than a typical Sunday. Some stayed for minutes, others for
hours. Lots of great folks very interested in the count today.
I was joined early in the morning by local photographer and hiker Pasha,
who was very good at spotting for us. I was also joined by observer and
volunteer Mark Capozzoli who was great to spend a few hours with and also
has some great photography skills. Today was a great day to visit the knob
and I enjoyed spending time watching the skies with so many great people.

Weather:
Mostly cloudy conditions dominated the count, with cloud cover varying from
about 3090% and visibility improving from 20 miles early to around 30
miles for most of the day. Temperatures rose steadily from 67F in the
morning to around 80F by midday and afternoon, while winds remained
generally light to moderate at 010 mph, shifting from west/north early to
predominantly northeast for the remainder of the count.

Raptor Observations:
Bald Eagles:4, 10:57a, 12:37a, 2:10a, 11:58i.
1 Non Migrating Merlin, 2 Non Migrating Bald Eagles (10:51a, 11:33a), 2 Non
Migrating Red Tailed Hawk, 2 Non Migrating Coopers Hawks. (Non Migrating is
to indicate that they were not counted and were observed heading northward
or active hunting)

Non-raptor Observations:
Ravens: 5. Hummingbirds: 2. Pileated Woodpecker, Rose Breasted Grosbeak,
Goldfinch, Tree Swallow. The uptick in songbird activity that we have seen
the past few days seemed to stall today.

Predictions:
Sunny, with a high near 78. North wind around 5 mph.
