Observation start time: 08:00:00 Observation end time: 12:00:00 Total observation time: 4 hours
Official Counter: Brian Rusnica
Observers: Visitors: None
Weather: Brisk and clear air to start, mostly cloudy with a solid NNW-NNE breeze. By 12pm EDT, full overcast and a shower had rolled in. Sat through one shower but the flight died off; ended the watch at 1pm and avoided the next shower. Raptor Observations: A solid trickle of raptors pitching southward in the favorable winds. First bird of the day was the season's first Northern Harrier, quartering to the SW, being catapulted along by the bouncy breeze. Small groups of Bald Eagles headed south together, and some day hikers got to take in a naked eye adult cruising above the true summit.
Non-raptor Observations: Common Raven 16 Ruby-throated Hummingbird 5
Predictions: North winds continue! A possible local shower early may mean a later start. Hopefully we will be watching!
