Around 7:45am, we had a flurry of about 5-6 very active warblers, flitting around the yard for about 10-15 minutes……and then they were gone, continuing their journey south.
Warblers we were able to identify were:
Bay-breasted Warbler
Yellow Warbler
American Redstart
Over the last week, we’ve had several isolated warblers work their way through the yard, but this is the 1st small flock.
It’s quite a fun experience - suddenly there are these small, very active birds flitting around the yard. Trying to keep track of them and get a few photos is quite a challenge. You start to track one while it moves through the trees and bushes, in and out of the leaves and branches, occasionally pausing. So you snap some photos, while trying to adjust your exposure as they move in and out of shade - using the “auto” exposure can sometimes work, but it tends to over expose, leading to too bright photos. Then you try to spot another bird and do the same. You do this for about 10-15 minutes and then they’re suddenly gone. What fun! Let’s hope some more show up tomorrow morning.
