Peter Kaestner will be speaking at the Tanenbaum Speaker Series, sponsored
by Sigma Phi and Cornell University, on Thursday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m.
at the Cornell Willard Straight Browsing Library.
His talk, “Lessons from The Big Life: It Takes Many Villages to See the
World’s Birds,” promises to be a fascinating preview of his forthcoming
Random House book, The Big Life, coming May 7, 2027.
Peter is a retired U.S. diplomat and truly extraordinary birder who has
spent more than six decades traveling the world in pursuit of birds. He
holds Guinness World Records for being the first person to see a
representative of every bird family and, in 2024, becoming the first person
to see 10,000 bird species in the wild. Along the way, Peter has gathered
an extraordinary collection of experiences and adventures to share, and I
think it will be a fascinating evening for anyone who shares a passion for
ornithology and birding.
The event is free and open to all, no tickets required, with refreshments
to follow.
