Subject: [CT Birds] Chestnut Hill Hawk Watch - Litchfield, CT
Hope to get going at the Chestnut Hawk Watch in Litchfield, CT (at the intersection of of Camp Dutton Rd and Chestnut Hill Rd) some time next week . Hopefully by Sept 11, Friday. weather permitting.  While we count all migrating hawks (monarch butterflies too) we always hope for a good number of Broad-winged Hawks migrating. Last year (2025) was very disappointing with only 158 migrating Broad-winged  hawks counted. Hopefully numbers will be better this year. International Hawk Migration Week runs from Sept 12 to to Sept 20. One can look at migrating hawk  numbers from different hawk watch sites at a web site of the Hawk Migration Association, formerly the Hawk Migration Association of North America,. at hawkcount.org.
